Rausu Town, located in the Nemuro Subprefecture of Hokkaido,
is surrounded by some of the world's most renowned natural environments,
exemplified by the Shiretoko World Natural Heritage site.

The Shiretoko Peninsula extends far into the Sea of Okhotsk,
with the Shiretoko mountain range running along its spine.
The peninsula is home to two towns:
Rausu on the east side and Shari on the west side.

In addition to its abundant nature,
the area has long been known for its thriving fishing industry,
providing delicious fish from the Sea of Okhotsk year-round.
The main attraction of Rausu's tourism is encounters with wildlife. Tourist boats offer whale,
orca, and dolphin watching in the summer and ice floe and bird watching in the winter.
